What in-home ABA therapy changes about your week

Families of children with autism ask what a home program actually looks like once it starts, and the honest answer is that most of it happens inside things you already do. A session is built around the afternoon snack, the walk to the car, the bath, the moment a sibling takes a turn. Those are the situations where a new skill has to hold up, so those are the situations the behavior technician works in, with the BCBA setting the targets and reviewing the data between visits.
Working in the home is not a shortcut around a waiting list. It is a decision about where learning generalizes. A child who requests a drink at a table with an unfamiliar adult has learned something real, but a child who requests a drink in their own kitchen, from their own parent, at the time they are actually thirsty, has learned something that travels. Everything Samba ABA does is organized around the second version.
Since the sessions happen where you live, caregivers see the teaching as it is happening rather than hearing about it afterwards. Parents pick up the prompting and reinforcement strategies by watching them used with their own child, and the team adjusts the plan around the realities of your household – the schedule, the siblings, the routines that already work.
